The Murder On The Orient Express

Agatha Christie is a spin mistress. She had the admirable ability to add her own individual twist to create mysteries that were both surprising and refreshing. Since it is a Christie novel, they all deal with murder.

All of them deal with expression and suppression.

What the individuals in the novels express and what they suppress are very often clues to their own character and also in the solution of the mystery.

In addition, they are all "fair" stories like almost all of Agatha Christie's novels were - i.e. a person who reads the stories with attention can logically solve the mystery. She was fair to her readers that way.

Murder on the orient express a good old Agatha Christie mystery tale.

It is one of the finest crime fiction I have ever read and undoubtedly the finest from Agatha Christie.

The classic train of the 1930s The Orient express is stopped due to heavy snowfall. A murder is discovered and the murderer is among the people on board. The bad luck of the murderer that the world’s greatest detective Hercule Poirot happens to be on the same train. Poirot arrives to interrogate all passengers and search for clues before the killer can strike again.

The opening chapters of the novel takes place in Istanbul. The rest of the novel takes place in Yugoslavia with the train trapped between Vinkovci and Brod.

This was my first Agatha Christie novel and I was flooded with emotions after reading this.

I enjoyed my journey on the orient express did you?
